Project EUMOSS (2021-2024)

EUMOSS - EUropean MOdules in Security Services is a Key Action 2, 'Small-Scale Partnership' project under ERASMUS+, which was co-financed by the European Commission to the tune of 60,000 euros.

It was a European project for teachers from vocational colleges and educational institutions that provide training in the security industry and was coordinated by the Office for EU Projects and Vocational Qualification of the Düsseldorf District Government (GEB). The project involved the Berufskolleg West of the city of Essen from the administrative district of Düsseldorf as well as European partner institutions in Finland (Tredu), the Netherlands (Albeda College) and the Czech Republic (SPSCH).

The teachers' motivation for participating in the project was multifaceted: to promote the exchange of expertise in teaching security forces, to compare the curricula in the countries, to discuss the challenges of teaching the generally heterogeneous target group and to further develop the quality of training in order to provide trainees with up-to-date content and increase their chances on the European job market. The aim of the project was therefore to develop digital teaching modules for lessons that meet the above criteria, are highly relevant to the trainees and can be used across national borders. The topic chosen was 'cyber security', as copyright, data protection, handling software, corporate identity, the use of AI technology and, above all, dealing with social media are important for companies. The teaching modules developed in EUMOSS sensitize trainees in security professions, but also in other training professions, to situations such as cyber attacks and teach them appropriate ways to respond. In detail, the modules developed include:

1. safe use of social media in the security industry
2. cyber threats:
a. Fake calls and chats
b. Misuse of images and videos
c. Phishing (calls and emails)
d. Secure and insecure payment methods on the internet
e. Fraudulent transactions and fraud on marketplaces
f. Fake information about investments
3. consequences and security measures - how to deal with them

All teaching modules are in English and will soon be available throughout Europe at https://erasmus-plus.ec.europa.eu/projects
